MUST.. COMPLETE... READING... GOAL: A compilation of novella reviews

I've read 10 books so far this month and 4 of those books were novellas. Yes, yes, I know I didn't plan very well with my reading challenge again shhhh but I did get the chance to read some fabulous short stories this month! I even completed my reading challenge after lowering it three times since I fail at humaning.
But anyways...

I thought today I would share with y'all the novellas I read in the month of December! (I'm not including The Crown and the Arrow in my review list since it was so short. BUT I did really enjoy it and I need to read The Wrath and the Dawn ASAP!)

I've only read short stories from Leigh Bardugo thus far. But from what I can tell her writing is amazing! The Witch of Duva was creepy, magical, and absolutely enthralling. (I also unashamedly read this on Christmas Eve because nothing says "the holiday's" more than a creepy witch in the woods xD)

I don't think I had read anything written by Marie Rutkoski before I read The Bridge of Snow. I'll definitely have to pick up The Winner's Curse soon, though, since I really enjoyed this story! Like Leigh's novella, it was a little on the darker side. There's some death and some creepiness to it without being too overwhelming.

I couldn't fit the second half of the synopsis onto my graphic so I'll just summarize it for you here! Basically.....
Dez returns 3 years later but WTF HE'S SMOKING HOT. Jas doesn't want to trust him (for good reason) so she makes up some conditions and if Dez completes all her tasks in 7 days then maybe they could be together 4 ever.

Obviously this novella was a little cliche. It reminded me of all the other relationships that go on during the course of this series. But I'm also not going to lie to y'all by saying that I hated it. (Dang it why do I have to be a sucker for cliche romances?!)

If you're on the struggle bus, like myself, when it comes to your Goodreads challenge then I recommend reading one of these novellas! I haven't read Shadow and Bone or The Winner's Curse and I was still able to enjoy the companion novellas with little to no confusion.

Do you have any novella recommendations?

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!

Because you need more books in your life... here's FIVE 2017 reads that we all need (SO MUCH EXCITEMENT)

Hello, friends!

I think we can all agree that 2016 has been... a dumpster fire of a year. So I don't know about you but I'm ready for 2017 to arrive. (I'm actually surprised at how fast the year went by! Can you believe that the new year is in a few days?!)

Anyways... I thought it would be the perfect time to introduce to you some books that I'm really excited for! I'm going to try and mix super hyped books with some not-as-talked-about books as well! (I'm not including ACOTAR 3 on my list because that's a given xD)

A Mulan based story from Renee?!?! Ummm yes please. I need this one ASAP. Plus that cover *all the heart eyes*
(Find out more about Flame in the Mist here.)

I read Rebel of the Sands back in March and I absolutely loved it! It was action packed and magical and UGH so good. So of course I'm excited to read this one when it releases next year! (I'm a little bitter about the cover change but I'll push my bitterness to the side since I need to know what happens) But really...

The Star-Touched Queen is my current read and I have no doubt in my mind that I'll need ACOW when I finish! Roshani's writing is simply beautiful. I'll always need more of her stunning stories.

I found out about this one more recently and damn. It sounds SO. FREAKING. GOOD. It's pitched as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo meets Gone Girl" so I'm expecting it to be reallyyy intense. Plus, the setting is super unique! I'm not sure if I can stand the wait for this one!

LGBTQIA TEENS ON THE MOON? FIGHTING GARGOYLES? I can't believe this doesn't release until October of next year! The synopsis is giving me so much life ohmagosh.

What books are you looking forward to reading next year? Are you looking forward to any of the ones listed above?

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day!

Adventures of a Book Girl|| Meeting Marissa Meyer on her Heartless tour!

I'm back to do another installment in my "Adventures of a Book girl" series! I haven't done one of these posts in 5 EVER and I'm excited to fangirl once again with y'all =D

(I have two posts thus far in my AOABG series! You can find the first two posts here!)

Without further ado...

When I traveled to Chicago to meet Rae Carson and Sarah Prineas, last year, I took one of my bestest friends. So of course I had to take my friend on another bookish adventure! (Especially since Marissa is our queen.)
Plus, book events are always much more fun when you have a friend!

We set off for Chicago around 11:00 in the morning and we ended up getting there around 1:30 (with a one hour time-zone difference.)

Let me just say.... my friend had never listened to Hamilton. Since my Hamilton obsessed brain couldn't handle this news, I made her listen to the entire Hamilton soundtrack on our way there.

Now she's Hamilton obsessed *evil laughter*

*Skip a few hours ahead to the event*

If you went to a Heartless tour stop then you may know that Marissa plays a series of games with the crowd. I honestly loved the crowd of people that came to that tour stop! They made the games so much more interesting.

One of the games was where she had cards and you had to go up there, pull a card, and the card would be your occupation. (The person that got "opera singer" honestly gave me life ahaha.)

She also eventually did a Q&A! I asked her, "What would the Lunar Chronicles characters be if they were desserts?" which got me many weird looks. BUT if I have to get weird looks in order to confirm that Thorne is indeed a Tuxedo cake, then everything is worth it.

SPEAKING OF DESSERTS... I almost forgot to mention, but, before the games started there was a tea/cookie bar and I LOOOOVE cookies and tea... and food in general. so that was a HUGE win for me, honestly. xD
I took very few pictures at this event (because I failed epically haha) so to give you a visual of what I envisioned when looking at the cookie table I'll use a GIF:

... Yep pretty much.

Must.... eat... cookies...

*skip ahead another 2 hours*

It took a century to get to the front of the line but it was definitely worth it. Marissa Meyer is such a sweet heart and I 10000% recommend that you meet her if you can!
(Plus her outfit was KILLING IT. It was fantabulous and amazing and UGH it was the best!)

Overall I had an amazing time! Book signings/author events are super fun for me to attend and I can't wait to meet many more amazing authors in the future!

What's the best book event you've been to?
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

A life update thingy||| Where I've been & LE BOOKS & A Month in Review (November Edition!)

Hello book humans!!! *all the huggles*

*Warning: This post is going to be ginormous*

You may or may not have noticed but throughout the fall I've been pretty nonexistent in the blogosphere. There's a few reasons for that including....

Marching band
Okay so the season ended, for me, on the first weekend of November (so a little while ago.) But that was kind of why I literally stopped blogging in October. If you've ever been in marching band (or any sport for that matter) then you'll know that it can be time consuming... very time consuming.

I think we can all agree that homework sucks xD
Unlike queen Rachel from A Perfection Called Books or the fabulous Nori from ReadWriteLove28 I suck at managing my time. (ESPECIALLY when it comes to school.)

Lack of inspiration
I'm not someone who likes to only post TTT's or WoW's. Don't get me wrong they can be hella fun to write up. But they aren't the most unique posts out there and I'm big on reading/putting out more unique content. I don't feel like I've been doing that for a few months now so I'm hoping to get some unique posts out, soon :)

What have I been doing while I haven't been blogging?

Well, I've been doing homework and I've been reading a lot more! I'm super behind on my Goodreads challenge, 18 books behind, but I'm hopeful haha.

Without having the pressure of posting I've been able to indulge in reading a lot more (and it's been amazing!!!)

I read a total of *checks Goodreads* four books last month. I'm on the reading struggle bus this year ahaha. But all the books I read were, at least, four star books!

The Lovely Reckless

(I don't have any posts to compile since I only posted once in November xD)

I didn't really read any blog posts this month *cries* BUT Brittany from Brittany's Book Rambles updated her website not too long ago and I LIVE for the design.

(But seriously if you haven't seen the design yet you need to see it's gorgeousness!!!!)

I'm not sure how interesting this post was (haha) but if you made it all the way through *HANDS ALL THE COOKIES*

What have you been reading lately?
Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!

Top Ten Fantabulous New Author Humans That I Discovered This Year

TTT is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely ladies over at The Broke and the Bookish.

 Hello, friends!

As you may have noticed, I changed my image for TTT posts to accommodate the Holiday Season. (Fun Fact: I LOVEEEEE the Holiday season.)

Today doesn't have a specifically holiday-ish topic BUT I'm still very excited to talk about some fantabulous author humans.

So without further ado let's get started!

The lovely Shannon M Parker was a 2016 debut author! Her book, The Girl Who Fell, covers the subject of abusive relationships. I'm not generally someone who reads contemporary, or intense stories such as this one, but I ended up really enjoying the book. Shannon's writing was compelling and this book put me on one heck of an emotional roller coaster.

I was lucky enough to read S. Jae-Jones' debut(?) novel, Wintersong, this year. GUYS. THIS. BOOK. It consumed my life while I was reading it. It was SO. ADDICTING. *Calms self* Needless to say, I'll be looking out for anything she writes in the future.

I read Rebel of the Sands earlier this year and it was AMAZING. If you haven't read it yet... then what are you doing?! Also, Alwyn is sassy and fabulous and her tweets give me lifeeee.

There are some mixed reviews for Traci's book, The Reader, but I personally loved it! The book was strange but the good kind of strange. You know? I'm also a huge fan of books with pictures/ unique qualities and The Reader was SUPER unique. I definitely recommend =D

I've never been interested in The Beautiful Creatures series, Co-written by Kami Garcia. I've heard to0 many mixed things and I have piles upon piles of other books to read. #Thebooknerdstruggle amiright? But I did recently read The Lovely Reckless and OH. MY. GOODNESS. I devoured most of the book in one sitting because it was so addicting! If Kami keeps writing stories as delicious as TLR then I'll keep reading.

*Keeps talking about books like they're cupcakes because they basically are*

Soooooo I read my first Colleen Hoover book this year...
I read Confess and I really, really, really enjoyed it! Also Confess has a BEAUTIFUL cover! So that was definitely a bonus :) I'll be reading more from the fabulous Coho from now on...

I didn't get through too many books this year so I haven't discovered a TON of new fantabulous authors. (Which is why this list is only 6 people long.) BUT I'm definitely open to allllll the author/book suggestions. I love finding new books to fall in love with!

What have been some of the best books/authors you've read from this year?

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!

Review|| A Court of Wings and Ruin (and lot's of cringe) by: Sarah J Maas

I don't usually like to review sequels because then the review can't truly be spoiler free (which is a huge bummer). BUT I ha...
